I think i have a dry socket ?!

Question: I think i have a dry socket ?
I got my wisdom teeth pulled 2 days ago. I was fine for 2 days until about a couple hours ago i started getting pain from my tooth all the way up to my ear. When i look at it in the mirror you can see an opening where the tooth used to be. My breath changed too, it doesnt smell normal. Just now i was rinsing with warm water and salt and i felt something come out of the spot. I took it out of my mouth and it was this small red thing, ( maybe a blood clot ). I havent been bleeding except for a tiny blotch last night.

I ate a salad and chicken with rice and asparagas last night. I ate a burrito today and it had hot sauce in it ( im preparing for a sh*t storm of bad comments on that ). My assistant doc i had told me i didnt have to eat soft foods.

Answers:

HI there okay so don't panic. The pain you are experiencing is normal if your extraction is only done 2 days ago. A dry socket will usually appear after 4 days of the extraction and the pain would totally go then come back with avengence. The rinsing sounds as if you have knocked out the blood clot trying to form. Oozing from your socket is normal but if it bleeds a lot like your mouth filling up then you need to see someone. This is very unlikely or it would have happened by now so please note the following-
DO NOT PUT ANY GAUZE INSIDE YOUR SOCKET AS THIS WILL MAKE IT BLEED WORSE,
IF THE PAIN GETS WORSE TOMORROW THEN CALL YOUR DENTIST AS IT WILL PROB BE A DRY SOCKET DUE TO YOUR BREATHE SMELL AND PAIN
CONTINUE TO RINSE WITH SALTWATER BUT GENTLY NO SPITTING HARD.
EAT AND DRINK AS NORMAL QUITE RIGHTLY, HOT SAUCE AND A BURRITO WILL NOT HARM YOU SO DONT WORRY, THIS IS ONLY APPLICABLE STRAIGHT AFTER EXTRACTION.
I hope I have out your mind at ease.

Call your dentist. If it is a dry socket they can become very painful. He may need to pack it with some gauze and give you some meds.
