Wearing my Retainer again?!

Hi, Well, I got my braces in middle school and had them removed my first week of my freshman year in high school. I had the basic "wear my retainer" treatment. Wear it always unless eating, wear it for so many hours of the day, only wear it at night. And I did that up until my junior or senior year. By my senior year I had stopped wearing my retainer entirely, and I only put it in once or twice since then. I'm now a freshman in college and my wisdom teeth started coming, about my senior year. The wisdom teeth are just about all the way in and only give me pain every couple of weeks.
When I found my retainer today (Jan 10) I figured I'd wear it to bed. My teeth HURT like nothing my wisdom teeth could ever do.
By me not wearing my retainer for more than a year and my wisdom teeth coming in has the damage to my teeth already been done? None of my teeth look crooked.
Can I fix my teeth just by wearing my retainer again.... I don't have the money to go see my orthodontist.

Help??
