can you get salivary gland infection from eating out?!

Question: Can you get salivary gland infection from eating out?
I've never had one before and I'm an adult. I had my mumps vaccine. I would think its from grinding, but I got this in the evening, not when I awoke. My gland is whitish, def infected, tho not bloated. I'm cleaning it and used and antiseptic. I was reading its common. If hygeine is good, and its not mumps, could I have gotten this from eating at a restaurant?

Infections come from bacteria and viruses. If your salivary gland is infected, some bacteria or virus got there and grew. But there is no particular reason to think that the infection began in a restaurant. It could have happened anywhere. It could have even been something you touched.

If anything, the restaurant strikes me as one of the less probable causes. If the restaurant's sanitation was causing people to get sick, then it would be likely that dozens or hundreds of other people would have the same infection as you. And if that were true, it would likely have become a widely reported news story. Since none of that apparently happened, it is more likely that you got the infection some other way.

In any event, you should see a doctor and get treatment. Even a relatively minor infection is important when it is on your head. Good luck, and I hope this helps.
