How does the dentist fix a cavity in the front tooth?!
Question: How does the dentist fix a cavity in the front tooth?
Answers:
Basically, fixing a front-tooth cavity is no different from fixing any other cavity. The decayed area is drilled out, and a filling is applied. The only difference is that the dentist will use a tooth-colored resin to fill the cavity rather than metal, so that the restoration will not be visible.
In fact, more and more dentists are using resin instead of amalgam (metal) throughout the mouth. It looks better, and there has been continuing controversy over potential side effects from metal fillings. So really, there is no difference at all.
the only thing id add to the above is that resin fillings to tend to stain and shrink over time and need to be changed more frequently than amalgam...(not in all cases) but as it is a front tooth and not a biting surface this should be fine for you. no big shakes just a small simple filling.. :)
