after dentist..face still swollen help?! 10 pointss?!

Question: After dentist..face still swollen help?! 10 pointss?
well my mom went to the dentist 12 days ago and got a couple cavities filled all on the same side. she is hard to numb so he has to numb her a little extra. well we all know it is normal to be sore and swollen for a few days. but after 12 days, the swelling and pain is the exact same way it was then. and she has tried ice, heat, everything. what is the cause of this? and how to treat it? thanks :)

Sounds as though she may have an infection or one of the filled teeth is abscessing. I any event she needs to get back to the dentist for an exam. Good luck and I wish you well.

Most fillings have increased sensitivity after the procedure, especially if they were fairly deep. I had a deep filling that was giving me temperature sensitivity for about two months. Advil or Ibuprofen is a great pain reliever to take for dental pain. (600 mg. (3 tabs) every 4-6 hours is a good dose for short-term use.)

Advil/Ibuprofen is a good anti-inflammatory and should also help with swelling, although swelling probably points to another issue that needs to be addressed if it continues.

it depends on the strength of the pain relief applied. They all vary. But I would give it a few days if it doesn't heel seek medical advice.

Take your Mom back to the dentist NOW.
That is not normal, there is something wrong.

Yiou need to take her back to the dentist. That is not normal and there may be an infection.
