terrified of the dentist: Need a root canal and wisdom teeth extraction?!

Question: Terrified of the dentist: Need a root canal and wisdom teeth extraction?
hi i am so scared of the dentist from a bad experience when i was a kid around the age of 8. the dentist drilled on my teeth it hurt alot i believe i was getting a filling. they said i needed a root canal. in 2009 (age 17) i went to the dentist and got 3 teeth filled and it wasnt painful at all. and the anestesia was just a pinch. a week later when i went again they said that i needed my second cracked molar pulled and 2 wisdom teeth pulled but i chickened out because the dentist wouldnt give me a straight answer of weather i would be in pain or not he just said he would sedate me (i wasnt sure how far sedated i would be. i dont wanna be aware of whats happening). and he also said i need a root canal. i have heard that a root canal is extremely painful and i am so scared because pain in my mouth is not an acception at all. please give me some insight. advice from someone that is afraid of the dentist would be alot better! i need an answer on weather a root canal/wisdom tooth extraction is painful!! please help!!! =[

i was so terrified when i was told i need two root canals a couple months ago.
it did not hurt one bit! i think back in the day it was a lot harder and more painful, now it's nothing. i couldn't believe how worked up i got!
i have had 2 wisdom teeth pulled. i was terrifies of that as well. i didn't get sedated, just numbed up really good. it probably took 1-2 minutes for them to take it out! i was prescribed pain meds and was able to get them and take them before the numbing effect wore off.
they told me just to take Tylenol and i said no i need something stronger and they were fine with that.
trust me, it won't be anywhere near as bad as you think!!

WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL IS PAINLESS atleast i m sure of that

I'm mortified of the dentist, like you. I chose sedation when I have all of my wisdom teeth, along with another one that had a bad cavity pulled. I was just put to sleep, woke up feeling drunk with a mouth full of cotton. Afterwards it was not bad, they give you pain meds, and the pain was not as bad as the pain my wisdom teeth caused me. You need to ask your dentist if they use nitrous gas (which will just sort of make you groggy, like being drunk) or if they offer general anesthesia where you are asleep. Having teeth pulled is uncomfortable, yes. They numb you but when you hear the pulling and cracking sound, you may panic.
