How can I rinse my toddler's mouth out?!

Question: How can I rinse my toddler's mouth out?
My toddler is on Pulmicort (asthma medication) and I'm supposed to rinse her mouth out afterwards, because the medication can cause thrush.

However, this is impossible to do! She isn't old enough to "rinse and spit" water. I tried wiping her mouth out with a washcloth, but she won't let me put the washcloth in her mouth.

Any other ideas?

How old is your toddler? If she is old enough to deal with the inhaler you should be able to teach her to rinse. If you want to practice in the bathtub initially that could work, give it a try.

Do you have one of those medicine dispensers that look like a syringe without the needle? If so I would fill it with water and squirt it in her mouth, she does not have to open much at all to do this. I think using this a couple of times after her medication should do the trick. Have a towel handy because it will probably run out of her mouth. You can ask any pharmacist for this type of dispenser.

show her with a special cup so that she doesn't do it every time she drinks or get a spray bottle you have to do it first make a game of it and really just letting her drink juice after using it may do the trick she doesn't have to spit just get the stuff out of her mouth.
