I am so scared - please help - Braces: is this normal?!

Question: I am so scared - please help - Braces: is this normal?
I had my braces tightened at least a month and a half ago (i think, could be a month) now, and it hurts sometimes when i bight down (its not like a huge problem when i am eating) and when i push up on my bottom tooth.
It also has a little tartar on at the back.

I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and they said my teeth were fine. - will they be ok?

Cuz i am scared i will have black teeth when i have my braces off - is it normal for them to hurt on and off? Like ages after. Its more of a ache sometimes, and the gum can be a little tender.

BTW - i NEVER drink fizzy pop, i hardly ever eat sweets and i did have quite a bit of chocolate at Christmas.

Please help i feel like crying. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this?

Thank you xxxx

Hey its normal for braces to hurt when ur ortho tightens them, just eat soft foods like soup yoghurt etc..
and its ok if u eat sweets and stuff calm down!
AS LONG AS UR BRUSHING at least twice a day, 3 times is even better.
btw, when i started worrying about my braces and asking alot of questions, my ortho told me that if you think about them too much it definitely slows down the process! So CALM DOWN! lol
Now i still brush and take care of my teeth but i'm not as worried as i was before. And guess what? At my last appointment the ortho said it's moving along pretty well ! and i might possibly get them off in less time then originally planned :D
Just remember, you're in good hands...
Also, brush ur teeth and dont eat hard foods

Good luck! xx

This is normal, it happened to me a couple of times when i had my braces tightened. It's fine, just make sure you brush thoroughly twice a day.
The gum is tender because you may not be able to reach the gum when brushing, and it has become a bit swollen. I just got mine off before Christmas and my gums were so swollen.
Take a paracetamol and if it gets worse or breaks, phone your orthodontist and ask them what to do. :)
