I need some information on getting braces removed?!

Question: I need some information on getting braces removed?
I am getting my braces off on febuary 2nd. Today is january 10th. I just need some tips on the proccess of getting them off. i have heard that it hurts really bad when you get them off but i have also heard the opposite of that. What do they do in the "before removal appointment"and what do they do during the removal process? I am kind of scared, but excited at the same time! Also, what can i do to Decrease yellow/white spots!? That is my biggest fear.

Basically for me, they took off the wires and the elastics (like they normall would at your tightning appointments) or something they just cut the wires since it won't be uased anymore. ANd then they snap off the brackets (don't worry, it won't effect your teeth). They may be excess glue from the braces, so they wash it off. And then they clean your teeth.

(this part some orthodontists don't do, but mine did) they add a wire along the top and bottom front 4 teeth, and attach "buttons" (this is to keep those teeth aligned and to prevent shifting) and then they let the glue dry.
For my retainer (which is an essex one), they made a mixture or something, poured it onto the top teeth to make a mold. They let that dry, and that's how my retainer was made.
I'm not sure about your retainer because soe of my friends have the retainers with a wire on top, but mine's like invislign.

Hope this helpss!

Granted it's been 20 years but I don't remember anything bad about getting my braces off. There was no pain. You could take ibuprofen before you go just to be safe but I don't see why anyone would have pain getting them off. What I do remember is licking the front of my teeth a lot. They felt really slimy after having all that metal on them for so long. As for how they get them off, they unhook the wires holding them in then pluck off the brackets (again- that may be different now but it seems that braces are pretty much the same). As for spots I didn't have that issue. The braces won't cause them. If you have spots that's a different dental issue all together. Congratulations.
