Girl with bad breath? Help!!?!

Question: Girl with bad breath? Help!!?
for some reason I always have really bad breath, and I really don't know why. I brush my teeth twice a day for a long time (about 5 minutes). Every time I'm hungry my breath smells even worse, and I think that it's getting worse. I never drink soda or anything like that. All I drink is milk and water. Please help me!! What could be causing this and how can I fix it? Thank you! :)

You need to clean all parts of your mouth, not just your teeth.

First, purchase an Orabrush - http://www.orabrush.com/index_B.html. This is a specialised tongue scraper which truly does get all the gunk off your tongue. I have one and it is brilliant and not very expensive.

Use your Orabrush every morning and night before you brush. Scrub and scrape your tongue until the brush comes off clean. Then brush your teeth. Angle the brush a little so it is pointing up/down towards your gumline. Next you should brush your tongue, with toothpaste. Go as far back as you can. Gently brush your gums, the roof of your mouth and the inside surfaces of your cheeks with toothpaste. These all collect plaque and bacteria. Rinse with water, and use your Orabrush to scrape the remaining toothpaste suds off your tongue, then use an alcohol free mouthwash to flush everything out. A good alcohol free mouthwash is Dentyl pH... mouthwashes containing alcohol tend to dry your mouth out and make bad breath worse.

You should also floss every NIGHT, between teeth and under the gumline, before you start your brushing routine. There are loads of online tutorials that can teach you to floss properly. Loads of people do it wrong.

If you think your problem could be caused by a dry mouth, drink more water and chew gum to stimulate saliva production throughout the day. It could also be caused by a lactose intolerance so you could try cutting out the dairy from your diet for a week or two to see if that improves it, assuming the steps for brushing and flossing above do not help. But they should!

Good luck.

Experience.

It doesn't really matter how long you brush your teeth, it's about the quality of job you do. Get lots of mint-flavored toothpaste (enough to cover the entirety of the top of your toothbrush). When you brush your teeth, make SURE you get the very backs of your mouth and teeth. Don't leave a single nook/cranny out. Maybe try separating your teeth in sections - and brush each section for a good amount of time trying to get every germ out of there, then go to the next section.

Now, this is highly important for bad breath - your tongue. This is where the majority of plaque is held, if your tongue is whitish then you have a good amount of plaque on it. Try brushing your tongue with your toothbrush very hard, rinsing your toothbrush and repeating. Rinsing is crucial or else you'll just be pushing the plaque around.
Try to fight your gag reflex and brush as far back as possible.

When you're done with all of this - rinse your mouth out with mouthwash. You can get a good sized bottle of mouthwash at your local pharmacy for around 3 bucks.

This should cure the bad breath! Have a great day.

you see, i know this doesn't answer your question, but i have a classmate at my school has exactly the same thing. his name is Drew. he brushes his teeth 3 times a day, uses mouthwash after brushing every time, and flosses almost daily. he's seen doctors for it and they don't understand what's going on. so there really is no direct diagnosis for it.

When you brush, do you brush your tounge? If that doesn't help, you should get a tounge scraper. they help a lot! (: Hope this helps! x
