i went to the dentist today and they injected me with Novocaine?!


Question: I went to the dentist today and they injected me with Novocaine?
my bottom lip is really numb and its starting to itch pretty badly is that number?. what can i do to make it stop itching because i obviously cant scratch it and also how do i bring down the numbness.

In simple terms you cannot bring down the numbness it will go away itself. The Novocaine blocks the sodium voltage gated channels in and around your mouth which stops you from feeling pain. It will take a few hours for the numbing to ware off. It might feel a bit tingly for a little bit but within a short time that will go away too. There is nothing to worry about most people sleep it off and by the next morning it is out of their system already. Make sure that you do not cause damage to your mouth while you are numb, this is important because you cannot feel pain so you can cause damage without knowing.
