Will my wisdom tooth help me with my overbite?!

Question: Will my wisdom tooth help me with my overbite?
When I was in 5th grade I discovered I had an overbite, however my gums didn't get irritated or anything. Other than that, my teeth are fine - straight, in line, no spaces.
The dentist refused to give me braces, stating that I'm too old for them (!?!?!). Whatever... Now I'm 22 and my lower left wisdom tooth is coming out. Gum gets a little puffy now and then, but it's ok and it seems to come out straight.
I've been reading around on the net and everybody says that it should be taken out, since it's a dangerous and useless tooth, but since I'm not having trouble I thought I keep it.
Will it ameliorate my overbite? Or is this pure fantasy? Should I keep it?

Answers:

It's better to go to an orthodontist I had the same situation and they told me that my wisdom teeth would not help with my overbite in fact they would only make my bottom teeth crooked sooner or later so I fixed my over bite and got my teeth taken out.

I don't think an overbite has anything to do with the positioning of your teeth. It's about the length or shortness of your jaw. To change that kind of bite I think you would be looking at major surgery to correct the proportion of your upper and lower jaw.

However if your teeth become crowded by your wishdom tooth it can cause your teeth to become crooked
