Short teeth roots and braces?!

Question: Short teeth roots and braces?
I have some short teeth roots and my orthodontist said I might have to take an arch wire break and that is supposed to give my tissue a break.....so, how does an arch wire break work?

I think your orthodontist is referring to an arch wire. Basically an arch wire is the wire that attached so your braces. It conforms to your dental arch and is often placed in the middle of your teeth. This is basically what pulls your teeth into alignment. There are different kinds of arch wires and they all serve different purposes. Therefore, I think your dentist is more referring to giving your mouth a break by either taking out the arch wire or just leaving one in that will not align your teeth but will just provide alignment retention (your teeth will not revert back to where they started). I would recommended asking your orthodontist exactly what he means. Please read the sources below for more information.
