Will my teeth shift if i have my retainers out for 4 hours?!

Question: Will my teeth shift if i have my retainers out for 4 hours?
I'm going to my old town this weekend and i'm going to a fair there. I want everyone there that i haven't seen in a while to see me without my braces... but i dont want to show them with my retainers in :/ so do you think my teeth will shift in like 3-4 hours? Or should i just keep them in? or keep them in and when i see someone takee them out? :/ thanks!!

Your teeth would definitely shift but you can risk it if you are willing to deal with the pain later. You really shouldn't worried about what they think about you with retainers in. My boyfriend loved my retainers, he said they made my teeth look really sparkly and white! so i wouldn't worry about wearing your retainers in front of people, just be happy your braces are finally off!

I haven't worn my retainers in weeks, and when I put them on, they are a little tight at first, but then they get loose again. But it depends on how your teeth were before. If they were really bad, then they'll naturally shift more than if they were originally good. I think it also helps if you have bonded retainers (permanent ones).

I have the permanent ones and I think that helps you a bit more because you don't need to wear the plastic retainer as often since there is a wire on the top and bottom keeping teeth straight..

No, I haven't had mine in for at least a couple days. Once you put it back in it will fix, but don't keep it out longer than I did. But a few hours won't effect anything. especially if it's only once in a while.

I have a retainer too =)

Do what your orthodontist tells you to do. I have a permanent retainer in my mouth so I don't really have a choice. You don't want your teeth shifting back!

absolutly, they can move, and shift, if you do not use your retainers, that is what they are for.
