Is a deep hole common after a root canal?!

Question: Is a deep hole common after a root canal?
I went in for my crown today, they removed thef illing that was place din the root canal a week ago, and while they were making the crown i was feeling around the tooth, and it seemed half of the tooth was completely gone. I dont know if i twas fractured, but my dentist didnt mention it being gone and the x-ray seemed to show the root was still there.

First crowned tooth/root canal, is this normal? Do they fill in that empty portion before placing the crown on top? Hes one of the top rated dentists in phoenix arizona, so i know hes good and hopefully not lying.

Every root canal and crown my husband ever got eventually rotted. I prefer pulling it if it is in the back, if in the front, pull it and get a bridge or implant.

yes. thus the name canal. He should pack it with something before putting the crown on. I've had 5 root canals. They often remove teeth that are cracked or overfilled with fillings,by grinding it down.

Yes they must keep the entry area open to allow and bacteria to drain away. When the crown is fitted it will all be closed over.
