Is it normal to still have pain 4 days after tooth extraction?!

Question: Is it normal to still have pain 4 days after tooth extraction?
I had my upper right wisdom tooth extracted on Friday. It is now Tuesday and it still hurts. They had to drill it down and get in there to get the tooth out. Is it normal to still be in pain? Whenever I eat or drink it hurts. It feels like when you have a cavity or if your teeth are sensitive and you get cold stuff on it. Could I have dry socket? I'm not in extreme pain. On a scale of 1-10 I would be at a 5 or 6. I didn't have stitches either.

I had pain for about 1 week after tooth extraction. But it was not from dry socket. My dentist told me that dry socket is rare.

Yes, you probably do have a dry socket.
It would be better to go back to the dentist as he/she may be able to irrigate the wound to clean it from any food/debris that might be interfering with the healing process.
yet again, since it was an invasive surgery the discomfort you're feeling is probably a regenerative sign of healing from the bone + gum tissues.
Just get a consult soon.
