Do we need flouride for our teeth?!

Question: Do we need flouride for our teeth?
Why do they say we need fluoride in our tooth paste, where did this theory come from? The monkeys in the jungle don't brush with fluoride, aren't their teeth healthy and strong?
What is it so essential for your teeth?

It actually isn't. They just had something on the news yesterday about a few cities and towns that put flouride in their water, but then they learned that flouride can really mess up your teeth, making them brittle and can brake easily.

I'm not an expert, but it's an ion that topically strengthens our teeth to help prevent tooth decay- NOW, ingesting it in our tap water is another story. I **DO NOT** agree with fluoride in our tap water because we actually ingest it. Topical with toothpaste/ mouthwash = YES. Drinking it= NO.

That's about as much as I know. Check out the wiki link below:

Need? No. See Britain. Should Yes. See section 2.5 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride

I'm a Dental Assistant so I get asked this often. Yes, it is important that you use fluoride. It helps your teeth more than you think.
