Although you can sue anyone you want, this is a sticky area. Even if he/she made a mistake, unless they are completely honest, they are going to try and say it was necessary.
My suggestion is to advise the dentist since it was their fault ( if you can prove that ) and ask them to pay for the extra cost. If they refuse, then I would pursue legal action.
Give them the opportunity to make it right and then if they don't, you at least have gone past that legal hurdle of doing everything in your power to prove to a judge that you were not just sue happy.
Most injury attorneys are looking for the BIG payout and there is not going to be much in this for them as they work on a no recovery no fee basis. The most you would recover is the cost of repair and some minor pain and suffering.
Of course you can always file a civil suit yourself in the court for about $100 filing fee but you better do your research as the dentist will probably spend more to defend themselves than you are prepared to pay

no u can't sue, unless YOU can prove that it was his fault.
a dentist will only remove decay, and if the decay was close to the pulp, thats just unfortunate.
it's not like the dentist put the decay there in the first place?
if you had a cavity, there must have been significant decay initially.

Toothache could often be cronic and painful. Seeing a dentist might be a way out, but in my experience, finding a natural way to cure your ache might be a much more lasting solution to toothache. you can try the 12 hour natural cure program.

That is a question you should ask a lawyer.
Sorry I could not be of more help.
You'd have to be able to prove 100% that the Dentist in question has been negligent in his treatment
in order to sue him!
What might have seemed like a small Cavity to you was probably a lot bigger and deeper than you had anticipated hence the reason your Dentist has had to drill so far down to remove the decay!
Did the dentist take any initial X-rays before starting the treatment, xrays will give the dentist a clear indication of how deep the decay is.
Has the Dentist told you that you actually need Root Treatment or are you just taking a stab in the dark and assuming that this is the case.
Sometimes if the decay is really deep but it hasn't reached the Pulp a lining can be placed inside the tooth to help protect the pulp from becoming irritated once the filling has been inserted, if a lining is not inserted this can cause you pain.
Maybe the filling he done is to high and each time your biting down your putting extra force on the tooth and this can cause you pain.
Dentist are highly trained individuals but sadly they are Not miracle workers and if your tooth wasn't in great shape to start off with then you cant really point the finger of blame firmy in his direction.
Before thinking about suing him make sure you have got all of your facts right because you could end up out of pocket and still needing Root Treatment in the process!
