Getting Braces. Opinions?!

Question: Getting Braces. Opinions?
Hi-

I have been told by my dentist that I will need to get braces. I am 20 years old, which sucks cause I will have to wear them in college.

I'm just curious... looking at the pictures below, what kind of braces will I need and will I need to wear other appliances as well? Also, for how long? I have an appointment with an orthodontist in 2 weeks, I'm just curious to hear some opinions.

I had braces for 3 1/2 years, but i dont think youd need them nearly that long, as your teeth arent too bad. I think braces are well worth it as it actually makes you more confident having straight teethh :D and doesnt everyone want that cheesy grin with perfect teeth :D no honestly i think their well worth it, and so common now no one gets bullied, and i didnt even find them very annoying :D hope this helps x

You have a Class II jaw relationship with a very deep overbite and both of these conditions can cause TMJ disorders to develop if you do not already have it. Clicking/popping of the jaws (with or without pain), headaches, the jaw feeling like it sometimes get "stuck" while trying to open wide are just a few symptoms. A word of advice - do not allow any orthodontist to extract your bicuspids (aka premolars) because this will certainly cause TMJ or worsen an existing TMJ condition. Try to find a dentist who knows functional orthodontic technique. Check this link to find someone near you - www.iaortho.org.

functional orthodontist; treated TMJ since 1984

You'll probably only need them for one year or 18 months because of the overbite. If you need help choosing color(s) check out the website below for a color selector:
