Can you straighten teeth with a retainer?!

Question: Can you straighten teeth with a retainer?
My dentist has told me I don't need braces. I am fine with my lower teeth, but my upper teeth bother me. It's just the front six. I am going to the dentist soon and want to ask him about it.

Is it possible?

Answers:

Yes, you can. But if they're really bad you'll need another correction method. A retainer is used just to move the teeth slightly and keep them in place, rather than drastically changing the position of them.

Um, no. A retainer is for after braces to keep the teeth in place so they don't move to wear they were before braces. A retainer would only make your teeth stay where they are now.

If you want braces, go to an ortho about that, not your dentist.

Not retainer, may be he or she meant appliance or invisalign braces which means not the metal brackets on your teeth.

my teeth aRE straighter but i i still want them straighter i asked my dentist and he said retainers hold you teeth in the same spot and don't move them at all

They are meant to keep teeth in place after braces.
