i have 7 cavitities, some questions please?!

Question: I have 7 cavitities, some questions please?
Okay well i went to the dentist yesterday and I have 7 cavitities that i didn't even know about.
I am getting them filled in different days so I'm doing 3 of them tommorow.
There wanting to have 2 days to do all of them.

Is it going to be unbearable, can I take a nerve pill before the procedure or will it affect the novacaine?

Answers:

no, it doesnt hurt..its just uncomfortable..they might or might not give you the LA.

It won't be unbearable. You will be given lidocaine (novocaine) and won't feel it. If you are anxious, discuss your concerns with your dentist. And do mention any drug you are thinking of taking prior to the appointment. Your dentist can reassure you. If you need a calming medication, the dentist can recommend an appropriate one.

Used to work for a dentist.

If you are nervous then ask the dentist for some sedation is available. If not then get a prescription from your doctor for Valium or Diazepam, I live in the UK so I am not sure what they are called where you are. Sedatives do not effect the Local Anesthetic in any way so don't worry.

I am a sedation dental nurse in Scotland

It's not unbearable. If you think the sight/sound of the drill is going to bother you, bring your ipod and headphones and close your eyes. The novocaine will numb any feeling, so nothing will hurt. That will wear off after a few hours, and there shouldn't be much, if any pain afterwards. It's nothing like getting your wisdom teeth out, this is much easier.

they probably aren't that deep before you never knew about them. don't take a nerve pill, as you don't know how it will affect you when you have novacaine.

even if it hurts now it will be better than the cavities growing and needing more treatment in the future

Novocain will take care of it, however 7 cavities is rather significant- lay off the sweets and soda.

first bit of advice, brush yo teef.
and usually when you get teeth filled, they numb your mouth, so there's no need to take a nerve pill.
