A few questions about wisdom teeth removal...?!

Question: A few questions about wisdom teeth removal...?
On Monday I got all four wisdom teeth removed, they were impacted. Today is Thursday and the left side of my face is still very swollen, a little on the right side too. I've been taking Vicodin for pain and the preventative antibiotic that was prescribed, so I don't have too much pain as long as I take my medicine routinely. I'm just concerned about the swelling, is it normal for it to still be so swollen three days later? Is there anything I can do to reduce swelling? I thought I would be okay after 4 days so I made plans for tomorrow, I don't want to have to cancel because I look like a chipmunk >.<

thanks for reading :)

Answers:

Swelling and pain is normal for up to 1 week with 1 wisdom tooth extraction and you got 4 out so unfortunately this is to be expected. The swelling can be reduced by placing a bag of frozen peas or ice on your face and taking Ibuprofen 4 times a day along with paracetamol and your antibiotics. The swelling should be reducing by tomorrow so you may still be able to go out but I wouldn't plan anything much.

Yes the swelling is normal. I had my wisdom teeth removed in October and they were impacted too. The swelling began to go down on the 5th day. Swelling was totally gone by the 8th day. One thing that may help the swelling is ice on the cheeks but it prolly won't help much. And eat foods that are easy to eat. I wouldn't put too much stress on ur jaw. Drink alot of fluids and just relax for a few more days. Hope you feel better! :)

Experienced it.
