I just got my spacers on a few hours ago and they hurt SO BAD??!!?!

Question: I just got my spacers on a few hours ago and they hurt SO BAD??!!?
I I got about 6 spacers on today (I am getting braces on Tuesday) and they hurt worse by the minute. My mouth has never hurt so much in my life. What can I do to make the pain go away (I already took Tylenol Extra Strength but that didn't help at all)?. I am ready to DIE!

Also, will by mouth hurt even WORSE when I get by braces on?

Theres not much to do for the pain other than pills. The spacers are forcing your teeth apart so pills wont really help. Sorry to say braces are going to feel a lot worse when you first get them on, but the pain will subside in around 2 weeks. When they put on the brackets it doesn't really hurt since they just glue them on. It will hurt though when they put on the wire. They put different thickness of wires on the braces and then tighten them. This is what aligns your teeth. However it is very painful because it is basically forcing your teeth to move and get tighter. They tighten them once a month or more often/less often. It will hurt each and every time they do this, but only for a few days after you get used to it.

Hey, first of all it's going to be ok. Take a deep breath. Spacers will hurt the most the first few hours then will get much better as time goes on. Same will happen for braces. Tylenol takes about an hour to work so for now work on distracting yourself. Watch some funny tv, or play flash games online. This is normal but if you're really worried you can always call the orthodontist.

Also, six? That's a whole butt load of spacers. Sorry. :( Most only get two or four.

They hurt for about two days and then they only hurt when you eat hard candy. It will go away! And I hate to tell you, but braces will hurt worse. They will probably wont hurt for about 12 hours, but after that, they will hurt really bad for about a week :(

Suck on some ice, and spacers hurt
way more than braces.
I hope this helped.
