My gums are growing behind my front tooth. What should i do?!

Question: My gums are growing behind my front tooth. What should i do?
Im 16 years old and i have braces, Ive had them for about 9 months and just a few weeks ago i notice that my gums started growing behind my front tooth. Its getting bigger and looks like a small tooth sitting behind it, its very irritating and BLEEDS a lot when i brush my teeth. I plan on talking to my mom to make an appointment but in the mean time what should i do to help the situation?

Occasionally you can have local areas of irritation around your teeth that have brackets and arch wires. It is good to get in to see your orthodontist but until then you can use some simple treatments to help sooth and heal the gums. The best over the counter measure is Amosan, a powder you mix in very warm water and rinse with three times a day. Peroxide mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with water is good and warm salt water rinse can also be helpful.

It is hard to tell what the problem is until you get to see the dentist. I'm sure it will clear soon.

You need to keep your mouth from drying out, because bacteria thrives in dry conditions. You need to get an oral lubricant that increases the flow on oxygen to the mouth.

Saliva is the bodies natural defense against bacteria, because saliva contains oxygen which bacteria hates. This will aid tremendously in your fight against gingivitis/bleeding gums.
