elastic bands on braces, a few questions?!

Question: Elastic bands on braces, a few questions?
i got elastic/rubber bands on my braces yesterday, and i have a few questions.

1) should i NOT be stretching out the rubber bands? i like to stretch them out before i put them in because i don't want it to snap in my mouth. will it affect teeth from moving?
2) my front teeth are a bit sore. is this normal? because my friend said when she got them it didn't hurt her. how long will my teeth be sore?
3) any other tips?

thanks!

1. It's not completely bad if you're stretching them out, but I suggest not doing it. The tighter they are, the more and the faster your teeth will move, and the faster you will be able to get rid of your elastics and braces! And, they won't snap, don't worry.
2. It's totally normal your front teeth are sore, that means they're working!! Once you start wearing them often and regularly, the less painful they will be, and don't worry, it only takes a few days.
3. Do whatever your orthodontist tells you to! The process will move SO much faster!! :]

Orthodontic patient for 7 years, now have a beautiful smile...and also studying to be an orthodontist in college :]

I just got elastic bands yesterday! It hurts!
Do Not stretch them the Reason there so Tight is so it tightens your teeth and helps them move where they need to be!&They will not pop in your mouth unless your eating with them take them out when you eat!&Don't use the same ones over &over again it will mess up your teeth & stain them!
Take a Ibuprofen they will feel much better(:
