Wisdom teeth or molars ?!

Question: Wisdom teeth or molars ?
I'm going to be fifteen soon. Recently the past few days my cheek bones and jaw have been hurting along with my cheeks becoming a bit puffy. Nothing big, but I noticed I have 28 teeth so far out of 32. the pain from my jaw is giving me a headache and I'm just really scared right now. Could it be my wisdom teeth pushing up? Because I have elevated bumps on both sides of the back of my molars.

Answers:

It definitely is and well done for counting your teeth, many people don't. So you have your 28 teeth and the remaining 4 are your third molars also known as wisdom teeth. The elevated bumps are your teeth pushing through to the surface and your teething. It usually can take between the ages of 18-25 for wisdom teeth to fully erupt, the ache and pain will come and go, taking regular pain relief will help with this. If the pain is constant and your gums start to get infected due to the inflammation then you may need them extracted in the near future but an xray from your dentist will determine their position in your jaw and he can tell you if they will erupt straight or be impacted.

Yes, it could be. Often wisdom teeth come in at an angle or just push against your second molars as they are coming in. by your age, a dentist will have or would like to take an xray that goes around your head to get a good picture of them and evaluate if they are getting ready to come out. You are a little young to have them out but it would take an xray to tell. Also possible you have cavities that are hurting. I wouldn't worry too much about it but I would have a checkup with your dentist if you haven't had one for a while.

You shouldn't get wisdom teeth taken out. It is not necessary. They hurt a tiny bit coming in, just like teething pain. My dentist tried to have mine cut out before they came in and go under anesthetic. I didn't since they were straight, not hurting, and antithetic can be very dangerous. They came in fine and now I have extra teeth, so when I am old they can shift forwards if I loose any. It really shouldn't hurt much though, so maybe check with a dentist.

Could be. Hurry up and get to a dentist before you're roots get bigger. I'm almost 16, getting mine removed soon, and my roots are small which will help the whole surgery thing. If you wait like my dad did(he was in college and his roots were huge), god only knows how bad things will go.
It's quick and something almost everyone has done. So get it done, the sooner the better. Hey, you may even get to miss a few days of school.
