Mild Gum Ache. When to Seek Medical Attention?!

Question: Mild Gum Ache. When to Seek Medical Attention?
This morning, I got a little ache right at my gum line (at the base of the tooth where I had a root canal performed 3 years ago) and throughout the day, it has gotten a little more continuous. My last dental check-up was about 5 months ago and I have always had healthy gums and teeth, so I don't think it is gum disease, or if it is, if it is, then it is at the earliest stage. My gums are not swollen, red, and they do not bleed when I brush my teeth.

Anyway, I cannot go see the dentist till at least 4 days due to the holiday and the weekend, and my parents told me to just take Ibuprofen to relieve the mild pain and perhaps the infection.

Will my gums be for 4 days till I am able to go to the dentist? What could be causing the pain?

Answers:

It's possible that the root canaled tooth has become reinfected this is very common with root canaled teeth I suggest that you take the ibuprofen to manage the pain but get to your dentist ASAP most dentist are still available for emergencies over the holidays if yours is not find one that is this should be looked at right away in the event that there is an infection.
