When braces are starting to fix your teeth do your teeth hurt?!

Question: When braces are starting to fix your teeth do your teeth hurt?
Ivee had braces for about a month and two weeks and ivee noticed that they moved a lot and when my teeth started to change my teeth hurt a lot. Is this because they are working? And will I get used to this? Thanks (:

It does take some getting used to. I've had mine for about 2 years now, and each time they tighten them, it does hurt again at least all day. There was a time recently when it hurt for about a week, but in general the pain subsides within one day. I use ibuprofen, and anbesol also helps with the sores that will happen whenever they rub the insides of my cheeks. Ask your orthodontist what he or she recommends, and if the pain is really bad ask about pain killers.

Don't forget to floss!
Good luck and feel better.

Yes & yes! Haha. Mine started working in only a week, and I sure noticed! You will get used to it to, infact, you wont feel it after the first month or so, unless of course, you go to the ortho and get the wire changed/tightened. But it shouldn't be as bad as the first time & actually getting them on. Anyway, in the long run, once you get those babies off your teeth in a few years or so, you will be soso happy you put up with the pain! It's well worth it.

That means it is working. You will get used to it although it is annoying as hell. If it gets really bad, you can take an advil or use ambasol on your gums.

lildevil is right. I wanted to add that if the pain is severe, ask your dentist to adjust the braces.

Yes, your teeth are starting to realign properly.
