I used to have braces. I had to wear my retainer for about a year afterwards. You can take it out for an hour or so but if you leave it over 24 hours you can feel that your teeth have began to move so it's best to keep it in for at least 6-8 hours a day. Hope this helps x

after my braces were taken off my orthodontist recomended i leave it on fully for 3 months. Then just at night for a year after that. If you leave it off for 36 hours they will start to move but putting your retainer back in will put them pack in place
