Will braces really hurt?!

Like a lot of other people have said, there can be quite a lot of pain when the braces are first on and every time they are tightened - you might find it easier to eat soft food and soups etc. for the first day or two. But when they settle down, you will be surprised how much you forget they are there at all. And it really is very much worth it in the end - people remark on my teeth all the time and it has been 25 years since my braces were removed! Good luck!

My daughter had a brace for over three years ( I had a retainer) and they are more uncomfortable than anything else. They will give you colour pegs of your choice and right now are quite trendy!!!! Appearance matters. Everyone comments on her fab teeth now. You may have to persevere but the end result is amazing if you have them as long as they want you to.

Countless trips to the University Hospital of Wales and all credit to them her teeth were really goofy and marked. They blasted them over a few trips to remove the marks and adjusted her brace almost on a weekly basis and achieved a film star set of gnashers.

Think about what braces do. They gently move your teeth into the desired position so you must expect some aching even perhaps a little pain. Paracetamol helps.The thing to do is to visualise how beautiful your teeth will look when all the treatment is finished and they will look beautiful believe me. Good luck :o)

No, they don't hurt. It does ache when you first have them put in and when they are tightened but it only lasts for a day at the most.

Don't worry, you'll be ok and you'll have amazing teeth at the end of it. I do :D

Its a dull pain when they are first put on and then tightened. Its fades after a while. I'd make sure you get wax from your orthodontist to over them. I didn't and the inside of my mouth was riddled with cuts.

I've had braces.

You will have to eat soft food for a day just while your mouth gets used to what is happening. As already mentioned it will be a bit sore after tightening but oh so worth it in the end =)

no it doesnt hurt that much. when you go get them tightened it may ache for a day or so, but generally, you get used to them and dont feel them after a while, you'll be fine

Hi... i juz got braces about 3 weeks ago. dey hurt for like da first 3 or 4 days, but after dat der fine. I havent had my tightened yet.. but they prob juz feel like they do wen u first have dem fitted.
ps... if u wanna eat crisps, eat wotsits!!!

After your braces are put on you will begin to feel pain because you can feel your teeth being moved into position. They will probably give you pain pills for this.

yes it does hurt when you first have them on& when you have them tightened,
but the pain goes away in a couple of days..

i have braces

at first it will hurt abit especially when it comes to eating but you'll get used to it.

Just think on the plus side you'll have amazing teeth. :)

They will hurt, but not to bad. My sister has them right now and shes fine. You just got to get used to them. =)
