Elastics for braces dont hurt at all, also cant stay on the hook for even upto 2!

Question: Elastics for braces dont hurt at all, also cant stay on the hook for even upto 2mins..they keep falling out!?
so basically, i started my orthodontic treatment back at school. I have had braces for 6 months now (1 week short of 7months). i use the Damon system MX Self ligating brackets and hey! I have loved the progress so far, and then suddenly, am done with school and have since moved to another city.

I met another orthondontist today who gave me elastics for the first time. He says I should place them on my canine stretching down to my second premolar...I have heard a lot of these triangular methods but mine is different...is this normal?

He also had my power chains changed at the botton teeth but hey, they dint even seem to pain at all? huh? like how come? you know, my last ortho did same for me and it hurt like crazy BUT SHE OFTEN ADJUSTED THE ARCHWIRE FIRST, SO I DONT KNOW IF THE PAIN WAS SIMPLY FROM THE ADJUSTMENTS AND NOT THE POWERCHAINS...NOTE THAT MY PRESENT ORTHO DINT ADJUST THE WIRE....do yall have an idea why??? cos when he first saw my teeth...he was like very good, so i wondering if i was done with the adjustments??

finally, like honestly, what bothers me the most is the fact i got my very first elastics from him today...their called tru-force, the yellow ones...contrary to the name...these elastics dont hurt a damn...i mean hey! arent they working? how come yall complain how much it hurts? or is it again because i dint have the wire adjusted??? and you the most annoying part, while fixing them and teaching me how to fix the elastics, he said..."i hope they stay on) i.e onto the brackets i guess...he tried and it was fine....on my way home...they simply began to fall out...was it that the rubber was too slippery?? or that it was too big for the tiny damon braces as he seems to concentrate more on the regulars..?? is there a special way i can fix the rubbers...they cant even stay on for a minute or two..thats how bad...when i talk, they fall from the hook?? whats wrong...plz help a worried person...and plzzz be kind...bless yall so much!

note; i dont even have his number or addy, even if i did, he doesnt even stay in my city...he only flies in on the day of appointment...am almost done with braces...i dont want to wait for him wasting a whole month! N HEY...I HEARD HIS ONE OF THE BEST AND FAMOUS ORTHOS IN THE COUNTRY....AM I WORRIED OVER NOTHONG AND SHOULD JUST TRUST HIM? thank you!

I would get a new ortho... Obviously he is doing something wrong. No, the rubber bands are not suppose to fall out, nor do you have to do anything to them to make them stay in. You shouldn't HAVE to do anything to make them stay in. If you don't get another ortho soon, you'll probably end up having to keep your braces on for longer.
