Braces are hurting like crazy. I can't eat! I can't do ANYTHING! PLEAS!

Question: Braces are hurting like crazy. I can't eat! I can't do ANYTHING! PLEASE HELP!?
I got my braces yesterday, and they were fine. I woke up at 4 AM and couldn't go to sleep because of the massive pain. I ended up falling asleep. In school, I tried to eat popcorn (dumb idea, I know, but I was hungry, and I tried to eat a peanut butter cracker. I had HORRIBLE pain. I can't eat anything. I tried to eat noodle soup, and I couldn't even eat the noodles. Please help! What can I do? I asked my relatives that have had/have braces, and they said that it'll go away soon, but I don't think so. What can I do? Please help me. I am in pain right now. My mom just made me a scrambled egg sandwich a few minutes ago, I tried to eat it, because I was really hungry due to the fact that I couldn't eat because of my braces and I haven't eaten since yesterday. I FORCED myself to eat a quarter of it, and that's it, it hurt so much I started crying, not even exaggerating. It's too much pain and I am not seeing my orthodontist for 5 more weeks. Please help, it hurts even when I'm not eating.

Call your orthodontist. It you are in that much pain, you need them adjusted.

Some of the best foods when your mouth is sore from braces: applesauce, yogurt, pudding, mashed potatoes, cheese puffs (they melt in your mouth), oatmeal, Kraft cheese slices.
Some of the worst foods to eat with braces: popcorn, hard pretzels, steak.

I would go for the foods with the least amount of chewing needed. Go for the soft foods!
The first couple of days after an appointment is always painful. You should take some Tylenol to ease the pain.

I PROMISE I PROMISE I PROMISE the pain will go away in 1 week it takes 1 week and everyday it will feel better the best thing to eat is something that will melt in your mouth like Ice cream or chicken broth you should have your mom make some chicken noodle soup and just drink the broth also take a pain reliever such as tylenol it will relieve the pain.

I had that for about two weeks. I know it hurts, but that means your teeth are getting in place and getting straight. Just eat Really soft foods like bread and soup. Tough it out and you'll pull through.

I hated get braces and new wires on them. What I did was get doped up on advil (not even kidding) then eat soft stuff and do the same before bed. I would do that for 2 days

Call but if they said they can not do anything
drink warm water but only a little.

For now, try sucking on ice cubes or eating ice cream and popsicles. Don't worry about the calories, you aren't eating anything else now anyway. You can also hold ice (wrapped in a cloth) on your face.

If you think warmth will make you feel better, try drinking warm or hot chocolate. If you use a heating pad on your face be very careful not to burn yourself. You can warm up a damp washcloth in the microwave and use that instead.

Orajel (like they use for canker sores and teething babies) really helps when certain areas are worse than others and also helps while you're waiting for medication to start working.

Tylenol or Ibuprofen can help. You can use both at the same time, because they work different ways. You can call a 24 hour pharmacy to get more suggestions until you can talk to your doctor.

To avoid pain going up and down, take a dose of Tylenol, wait a couple of hours and then Ibuprofen. This way you keep a level dose of pain medication in your system, because when the Tylenol starts to wear off, the Ibuprofen is still going strong.

Definitely call the orthodontist or you regular doctor as soon as you can. Living in pain isn't going to help anyone. Don't "suck it up", take care of the pain. It is nature's way of telling you to take care of yourself.

Stick to soft food for a while. Sucking (not chewing) hard candy can help distract you from the pain. Smoothies are a good way to fill your stomach without having to chew anything and since they're cold, they help with the pain.

I hope you feel better soon.
