Question: If you have a cavity in a back tooth and it does not cause you any discomfort, is ..?
... there any harm in never having it filled? Especially if it's a relatively small, slow-growing cavity?

Answers:

A cavity is an INFECTION. If you let it go, it will grow and eventually create a situation where you need a ROOT CANAL or EXTRACTION. It won't get better, only worse. The rate at which it gets worse will depend upon how you deal with it.

If you get an amalgam filling, then infection will grow under the amalgam and eventually lead to a root canal or extraction. If you get it drilled and cleaned out, then have a ceramic bonding done, it will be almost permanent. If you get a ceramic implant put in, that will be permanent and solve the problem once and for all.

good luck to you

I make that same assumption, seven years later, its going to hunt you, the nerves breaks lose from it, and now the dentist has to break the meat surrounding it, believe me get that cavity fixed

Experience

lol. It eventually will eat down to the nerves and it may come at a time where its completely inconvenient to make an appointment like the middle of the night and youre dying in pain or when a wedding is the next day or job interview etc.....
