teeth whitening before dental implants?!

Question: Teeth whitening before dental implants?
I'm in the middle of getting dental implants. I wondered about getting my other teeth whitened before I get the final implants, so they can all be nice and white - but if my other teeth eventually discolour, they won't match the implants. Has anyone had this done?

The final implant colour is based on the natural colour of your own teeth.

You need to talk to the implantologist before even considering this as this approach could in the long term become overall a very uneven colour. It could be a no win approach with matching a new implant to whitened teeth that eventually in the long run fade or become a different colour.

Some people have teeth that will never whiten anyway and the long term effects of whitening are not really known yet and the sensitivity issues in the long run are still being assessed. A lot of long term damage is being seen now with home whitening as well.

Hi Norma, yes i spent an extra $500 to get my teeth whitened before I had my implants fitted. That was 4yrs ago, and I now have miss matched discolouration with my teeth..I don't see it as a big deal, however 99% of women are a lot fuss-yer than myself. You would have to get really close to see the difference..Hope this helps,,Darryl.
