I broke my retainer! How do I tell my mother?!

Question: I broke my retainer! How do I tell my mother?
Okay. So I just got my braces off. And I got one of the newer retainers, you know the clear ones? And I stepped on the top retainer and it broke in half. It fits perfectly fine and everyone except for a semi noticeable crack on my front tooth. I have a retainer check up in a month. So I'm thinking I should tell my mother that I was brushing it and it snapped in half. But still, my mother told me NOT to brake it because it cost almost 300$ and we rant covered :l. So should I tell her because I mean it still works. But for my check up they might tell me to get a new one. Please help. And please tell me if that excuse is a good one! Thanks soo much.

Tell her the truth and call ur orthodontist asap b/c if you don't get one that is perfect your teeth are going to shift. they will have to take another impression of how your teeth are now instead of the perfect ones you had when your braces were taken off. The sooner you get it replaced the better. By the time you go to your retainer check your teeth will probably have shifted more than you want. Yeah its expensive to replace but since it's only 1 retainer it should be half the cost. Trust me, your mom would probably rather spend money on a new retainer now because she spend thousands of dollars to make your teeth perfect, instead of all that money spent and then you hide what happened and let your teeth start to shift. just 1 night of not wearing your retainer your teeth will shift!

I am sure that this is not what you really want to hear but tell your mom the truth. She may be mad at first, but she will get over being mad and she will appreciate your honesty. You don't want her to find out that it is broken and find out that you lied to her. She will be mad at you not only for breaking it but also lying to her. Just be honest.

That excuse wont work. Us parents aren't stupid. Just tell her what happened. Make sure she knows it was an accident. Your Ortho will tell you that you need a new one. A crack will make it not work perfectly. The crack means that the tension needed to keep your teeth in place is weakened and so it's not going to do the job properly. Just tell her. Lying to her will just upset her. Better to be honest.

If you don't get a new one, your teeth will go back to normal!! Since your retainer is broken, it won't work properly and your teeth will relapse and you'll have to get braces again. $300 for a new retainer, or $6000 for braces again, you pick.

honesty is the best policy, as your orthodontist is likely to tell her that it would be impossible to break it by brushing it. anyway, sometimes they can be repaired, which is a lot less costly than replacing.

Honesty is the best policy so just tell your mom or if you want to you save up money and get someone other than your mom to drive you to your dentist and you can by a new one

yer you should just tell her its not that bad compared to me, i broke my braces by biting an apple XD boy was i embarrased

Honestly you could prostitute ureself for a day and make the cash back.
