About to have an unusual root canal procedure done, along with nitrous oxide...?!

Question: About to have an unusual root canal procedure done, along with nitrous oxide...?
So, my root in one of my molars is quite crooked and needs to be done by a 'specialist'. They don't offer intravenous sedations, but they do have nitrous oxide. I'm quite nervous because last time I had a root canal done (three at the same time, actually), no matter how many times they gave me shots to numb me, I could still feel everything. My question is, will the gas help prevent the pain or lessen it at all? Since I know for a fact that it will hurt; I have horrible, horrible dental problems.

Gas will knock you out completely. It is great. Then they may give you a shot. So when you wake up it is all numb. You won't feel a thing

Yes, the gas should help a lot. It makes you relax and also takes a lot of the pain away. He will use anesthetic as well though. I find the less infected a tooth is going into a root canal procedure often means I can numb it up a lot better. Going to a specialist should make for a quicker and more pleasant situation as well.
