What are these bumps on my tongue?!

Question: What are these bumps on my tongue?
I've had a sore throat for the past couple weeks, and about five days ago, I had a fever of about 101, but after I took some medicine, it went away and never came back. I also felt really fatigued, and I felt like I was going to faint. I had a headache, and some nausea too. Well, three days ago, when I was planning on scheduling an appointment with my doctor, all the symptoms vanished except for my headache (which could just be due to finals :P). So I never went to the doctor.

Well, last night, I discovered these bumps on my tongue. They are mostly on the side of the tongue, and there are some underneath. One of them is long and white, and all the bumps are really painful. It looks (on the sides) almost as if I ate something really hot and I burned my tongue, but I haven't.
What could this be?

Note* I'm 15 years old, and it most definitely COULD NOT be an STD.

Answers:

Sounds like mouth ulcers. You can get these at any time, but often they come after a throat infection or generally being unwell, reduced immune system, etc. You can get soothing mouthwashes from the pharmacy, gargle and let the mouthwash wash over the ulcers. Most ulcers only last for a few days but are very painful as you mentioned. Eat soft, bland foods and avoid hot drinks for a few days - they will soon disappear. Good luck.
