Root of tooth left after extraction?!

Question: Root of tooth left after extraction?
My sister recently visited a dentist for a root extraction of a wisdom tooth in India. The young dentist did not even take a X-Ray before the extraction and later realised that it is not a straightforward extraction. A senior dental surgeon in the hospital reprimanded the dentist before my sister. After 4 hours of struggle, my sister had to undergo severe struggle and finally the dentists managed to remove three-quarters of her tooth. The root is still there and my sister was advised that it is alright to leave it there. Is it really alright? Can anyone please advise me.

Sounds like a bad experience overall but usually it is okay if a root tip is left. She will probably find out depending on how she heals over the next couple of weeks. If things just won't heal up, it may need to be taken out. Most of the time the bone heals over fine and it is not a problem.

I'm a dentist

As a general rule, less than one-fourth of root stump left out during extraction resorb by its very nature.it is very safe to leave it inside, rather than dig again.
