Braces in two days, uh oh?!

Question: Braces in two days, uh oh?
Well, the time has finally come, hah. On the 18th I need to go to my orthodontist and get braces.

What is the procedure like?
Do they use any numbing? Or is the pain not bad enough to require it?
Do they still ask what color bands you want?
How bad is the pain after?
What am I doomed to eat after? lol. How long until I can eat regular again?

thank you!

Hey, don't worry about the procedure or any of that stuff. Let me just tell you, once you get them off you will remember it as one of the best decisions of your life.

Don't worry too much, when they go on they don't hurt at all so you don't need numbing stuff etc.
They put this thing in your mouth that holds your gums up so they can stick the braces on, it doesn't hurt.
Depending whether your orthodontist does coloured bands or not, they should ask you.
An hour or too after they start to hurt a fair bit. Nerophen (sorry, can't spell it) will help a bit.
When your teeth hurt you can only eat really soft things, like yoghurt, jelly, custard etc. The pain lasts 3-7 days, depending on how tight they are.

Btw, ice is really really helpful for sore teeth, sucking on it helps to numb them.

Personal experience!

the procedure inst bad at all. all they will do is get your mouth completely dry and clue the braces on.

no they do not use any numbing. there is no pain why they put them on. pain comes 1 hr are so after.
Do they still ask what color bands you want? it depends on the ortho.
How bad is the pain after? from a scale 1 to 10 i say a 7... i have a high pain tolerance though
What am I doomed to eat after? lol. How long until I can eat regular again? i tried eating chicken strips when i got mine and i could eat but it hurt... for me it was 3 days for other people i know 1 to 2 weeks they were in pain.
