Awee, braces :(
I'm sorry to say that you're gonna have to endure the pain, races will cut your gums like crazy, and you're probobly not gonna wanna wear wax 24/7 for the next few years
For the front part of your braces, the one closest to your mouth, don't use wax, you'll get a few more cuts but they'll stop fairly soon (a week or so?)
for the back of your mouth with the braces,
the wire may be sticking out, try to feel (with your finger) to where the wire of your braces stop, if that's causing discomfort that means your orthodontist did not cut the wire short enough (be sure to check on both sides). With this, after every tightening be sure that he/she cuts it short enough to prevent discomfort. If this is bugging you, use wax or set an appointment to have it cut.
But basically, no matter how much wax you have, the easiest thing is just to endure the pain, it'll be over soon and it will stop cutting your cheeks and gums veeery soon!
Don't worry, it won't be the whole 18 months, it'll be max two weeks!

Good luck :)

I had braces for almost 3 years.

Hi, mild cut & discomfort from new braces is common, however it should not be more than couple of days, max 2 days. If it persists you must go back to your orthodontist & ask him/her to fix the edge of the wire/s. It might be the wire is too long, the orthodontist can cut it shorter.
You must have enough wax for supply, ask the dentist for it.
Definitely it must not be hurting all the time. Usually only 1-2 days after you have your monthly tightening on your braces.

You should go to a dentist IMMEDIATELY. The braces might be too tight, or something else may be wrong. You could be causing more trouble to your mouth by ignoring the cuts. If you can't get to your dentist right away, keep using the wax, he will probably fix the problem when you go to him, and possibly give you more wax, or a prescription.

You could get germs in the air by having cuts in your mouth, which could lead to major problems later in life. Go to the dentist that put your braces on, he will have to do something.

That is definitely not normal, but it may just be a side-effect. Chances are, its not, and you should have your dentist take a look as soon as you can, just in case.

omg, i remeber when i first got my braces.. i wanted to die. They kept cutting my mouth too! -.-
but anyways.. i know it sucks but you just have to wait it out. Your mouth has to get used to having all that metal in its mouth. Wait like 2-3 weeks and you wont even feel your braces anymore because you'll be soo used to them. Hope i helped :D

ohh and thanks for answering my question(the modeling one) what you said was really nice :)

personal expierence

I've got braces and when I first had them They kept cutting my gums and cheeks the best way to stop this is to ring your orthodontist because they will book a quick appointment for you to sort the problem out. I cant think of any other way expect from take pain killers to stop the pain getting worse

Ouch! Don't hesitate to call your dentist about this. I had braces (many moons ago!) and I never had to use wax. There may have been an occasional cut once in a while, but it was usually due to some wire incorrectly snipped or something. There's no way you should be in such distress. The doc needs to take a look and correct this. Good luck, honey!

keep on using the wax, there really isnt anything you can do

i recently got my braces too, adn for the entire first week i had to eat porridge for all three meals. after a while though, it gets better
now, the braces only hurt a little bit whenever the orthodonitist tightens it :)

For now, get more wax
They will cut you for a while, sorry, but its what happens
But eventually they will stop, by the end of the first month
If they hurt too much, talk to your dentist

Braces for 2 and a half years

go to the dentist ! who the heck is stupid enough to not do anything about it ? get to the dentist now ! and get some breath freshener while your there i can smell the mankyness over the computer screen ! SMELLY

Call ur orthodontist to either ask them to fix it or give u more wax... I never had that problem so theres definitely something wrong...

I had braces :)

Have you tried using them on your trousers, I am sure the go from there to over your shoulders

go ask ur dentist
