Pretty rare but you could get an infection.
There recently was a study of people who died of heart attacks and stroke with no previous symptoms. It found that a large percentage of them had bacteria in their blood stream that is usually found only under your gums in your mouth. I have been doing research on this subject, because my dad died at 57 and his brother at 48. Both died of a stroke, a clotting of the carotid artery in their necks. I asked my dentist and he said that could have been the cause. I am now under the care of a periodontist who specializes in the care of gums.
Tooth decay was the leading cause of death a hundred and thirty years ago which is why there was such a big boom in dental care during this period so yeah tooth abscesses and infections can kill you.
