:( I'm terrified of going to the dentist now that I will soon have braces?!

Question: :( I'm terrified of going to the dentist now that I will soon have braces?
I have to go tomorrow and I'm scared. I have four very loose teeth and after they come out and I get the new ones in, I have to get braces, and since that won't take long with my constant wiggling, that means this year I get braces. So, yeah, I'm scared because I heard stories where the dentist just pulls your teeth and I heard that hurts and I'm just suddenly terrified. Plus, I'm on my period and with the mood swings and food cravings, I've been eating mostly unhealthy junk food, and I scream when I have to brush my teeth or something. Help... :(

They don't pull your teeth. All they do is take out your wire, and make little bitty dents in it so your teeth will move to how the dent is. Sometimes they give you a new wire, but it's the same process.
Most of the time it doesnt even hurt.

You'll be fine.
And a dentist who does braces is called an orthodontist.
It bothers me when people call them dentist. I mean technically they are, but they specialized in orthdontics, so you call them an orthodontist.

im sure the dentist will numb you before any yanking, because he wants his customers to come back instead of running out of his/her office screaming so don't worry about it.and getting braces isn't bad, you will also get numbed for that too. so the most you will feel out of everything is mouth stretching and a couple of pinches from the shots of anesthesia

Don't worry. I am sometimes worried when I go to the dentist, and teeth pulling doesn't hurt. Just because you have to get braces doesn't mean the dentist is going to pull out your teeth. I had to go to the dentist right before I got braces and had two loose teeth and they didn't pull them so don't worry. If they do have to pull them then sometimes they will give you numming medicine and sometimes all your teeth roots are not connected to your tooth so you can't feel a thing.

good luck! P.S. braces don't hurt at all!

I had 4 teeth taken out too! And I just got my braces off last month. I was put under amnesia (I think that's it), where someone puts you to sleep. I remember he kept asking me to do things like open and close my mouth, to see if I was still responsive, when I wasn't he began taking them out. I don't remember or I didn't feel anything, just waking up on a bed with my parents starring at me.
If he doesn't do this then he will definitely numb your mouth.
Good Luck!

hey theres nothing to be scared about.. i just got braces a month ago and its amazing how fast your teeth get straight! it can be a week when their perfectly striaght. there only on so long because if you took them off they would just go crooked again. the day of getting my braces i had to get 4 teeth pulled 4!!!. but they are really good about doing this. first they num your mouth. (which afterward it feels funny and cool(: then they ask you if u can feel the pokes of them using a tool. which i didnt even feel !. I was scared because who wants to have metal in your mouth?. yes they didnt make me an prettier but wow.. 2yrs i will be glad i got them!!> and brushing doesnt hurt either. they give you this special toothpaste you use at nightime. They say no pop but i drink sprite thru a straw but it is sugary so i brush right after. and all the worries about getting popcron and your school lunch in your teeth watever!! i push bread and soft foods back in my mouth and go to the bathroom afterwards and make sure there is no food stuck in my teeth and guess what?? there ever is! it doesnt even hurt to get braces on.. they even let you choose a color to make them everytime you visit! People only say it hurts to make them sound cool and tough lol// hey im 13 nd uhmm.. i lov them!!!! they even give you this packet with tooth brushes and these little things to pack in your purse to get the food out. goodluck!
