Question about wire in braces.?!

Question: Question about wire in braces.?
I had the brackets put on my teeth a few days ago, and they put the wire in this morning. How long will it take for it to start hurting? My teeth feel kind of loose, is this normal. What can I take when the pain starts and which foods are easiest to eat? Should I just hit a few shots of Jack Daniels? LOL. Any response from someone with braces on would be helpful.

They will hurt as the wire is tightened, you may have slight pain later tonight or tomorrow. Chewing gum is really good for easing and preventing pain. (sugar-free gum). Ibuprofen is really good for the pain due to its an anti-inflammatory and thats whats going on is inflammation. But tylenol helps too. All foods are easy to eat. but the softer the food the more it sticks to your braces. the day i got my braces i went and ate taco bueno and the burrito crap was stuck in my braces and so difficult to get it out. I guess JD would help but idk. If you did use it, i would swab some onto my gums directly. Also orajel is a miracle worker. and i would invest in some dental wax, eventually your braces will start rubbing your cheeks and it can be very painfail and cause canker (spelling) sores putting wax around the brackets that are bothering you helps prevent that from occuring.

It hurts when they tighten the wire. You might feel it later on during the day or even the next day! It hurts for like 3 days sometimes a little more. I think the loose teeth are normal because they're going to be moving around a lot now. Just eat things that are soft, so no BBQ ribs or steak! Lol.

They will start to hurt when the wire is tightened. You can eat pretty much anything, but if they are sore, eat soft foods...ice cream, jello, soup, applesauce...that sort of thing. You can also take some Advil to help with the pain.
