My crown broke off completely while I was eating. ?!

Question: My crown broke off completely while I was eating. ?
I had this put on about 1-2 years ago and I had dental insurance back then. Now, I do not have any and I'm wondering if my dentist will have to fix this since a crown should last at least 5 years.

You need to determine if the crown just came loose or did the tooth crack in half.
If the crown came loose then it's a minor fix costing minor dollars.
If the tooth cracked then that's a major fix involving major dollars.
I hope it only came loose.

And no the dentist is not responsible this late in the game.

The first person is correct that the dentist would not be required to fix the tooth. What you can do though, since you dont have insurance is use http://www.1dental.com/free-dental/. Its a brand new tool that they came out with that allows you to look up your area and see what free and low cost clinics or schools are in you area.

If you cannot find anything there, you can check out a dental discount plan. Some of them start immediately and accept people with pre existing conditions. The best one i have seen so far is the 500 series plan from Careington.

I hope that helps

I'm not sure about insurance, but i know that if you find a government funded dentistry by the state or what ever they usually charge you a specific price based on your income so it's fair. That's if you have a dentistry in your state that does that. Mine does.

No. They will not be liable for it. Unfortunately most medical/dental work does not come with insurance of how long it will last. Sorry
