Dental crown tomorrow (fitting of crown) plz read?!

Question: Dental crown tomorrow (fitting of crown) plz read?
i am getting 3 front crowns put in tomorrow. Does he have to numb the area up again to take the temporary crowns off? it is my front teeth and the injection he puts on the top of my mouth is unbearable! Tears came streaming without me controlling them, it was so horrible. I am so drained i have a dental abscess in one of my teeth and i have now got swollen glands! grrr! i don't want the pain from the injection again. It has made me petrified. Stupid i know but it has.

Answers:

You could try to do it without any pain management, but it MAY be painful. You may not even need the local anesthesia. I would suggest you can call them in the morning and ask if they will be giving you the shots again. If so, ask if there are any other pain management opitons available to you. You may be able to get Nitrous Oxide administered, but local anesthetic (the shot) is, by far, the best pain management technique because its safe, effective, and efficient.

The pain management used is called local infiltration (if you care to google it) and your reaction is typical. I know my bf's nose got numb and ran like a faucet. :( Otherwise, ask your doctor how you could avoid this type of procedure in the future!

Good luck tomorrow!

I am a dental assisting student.

I hope this makes you feel better, I am getting a root canal.
