Underbite Corrective Jaw Surgery?!

Question: Underbite Corrective Jaw Surgery?
Ok so when I was born a naturally had an underbite. And im 12 right now the orthodontist said that I would have surgery when I'm 15. I want to know if having this surgery would affect my ability to play sports. And how long will it take so that I would fully recover and be able to do everything. Thanks in advance! Please a good answer.

i'm going in for the corrective surgery myself, except i have an overbite.
my ortho told me the procedure would have me out of physical activity for about 6 weeks.(the healing period)
for two of those six weeks, my jaw would be wired shut, allowing me not to move my jaw around, so it could heal, then the next four weeks. i would have my braces put on, and i would have to wear elastic bands in my mouth for that period of time, to reduce me moving my jaw, as if it were normal.
if you're getting braces put on, i think it would take less time, due to the elastics. i'm not sure about not have the braces.
but, it's different for everyone, your ortho might tell you 8-10 weeks. but in no way will it affect your ability to do any type of physical activity. it'll be all good (:

hope this helps! (:
