Smoking and wisdom teeth?!

Question: Smoking and wisdom teeth?
i got my wisdom teeth out yesterday. none of them were impacted so it was just a simple pull. my mouth is just a little sore, nothing even bad enough to take the pills the doctor gave me. i am dying for a cigarette and even though i know the doctor said not to smoke for a week i know someone has broken the rules before. any advice on what i can do to make it less damaging or harmful to my teeth? no negative advice please, i know i shouldnt be smoking right now anyway.

I am a Registered Dental Assistant so I see this a lot. We tell people not to smoke even though we know most of the time they will. So, while you really should wait because smoking can cause dry socket, which is extremely painful, I would suggest that is you are going to have a cig you take very small puffs or drags. You are not supposed to smoke mostly because the sucking can pull out the blood clot.
