how can i overcome phobia or be less afraid of the dentist, appointment is tommo!
Question: How can i overcome phobia or be less afraid of the dentist, appointment is tommorow?
i'm 14 and literally terrified of the dentist.
none of my friends or family have caused this, and i've never had a bad experience there.
but everytime i go i literally start shaking, i cant speak and constantly fight not to cry.
last time the dentist took out some tool and i got so freaked i sat up so fast i almost headbutted him in the face. i've had 3 fillings under sedation (so i dont remember a thing), at a 'nervous patients' clinic i was refferred to which was really good, they explained everything and talked me through it. tommorow i'm having a checkup, but im so scared its unreal.
is there any way i can be calmer or somehow pretend i'm not there? i know it sounds weird but i'm desperate and i'll try anything to calm myself down.
thankyou! >.<

Answers:
close your eyes, bring an ipod or mp3 to listen to, and just relax....especially for a check-up.Also remember, when you move or jump around it makes it harder for the dentist or hygienist.
