Will i be getting a palatal expander to help loosen my last baby tooth?!
Question: Will i be getting a palatal expander to help loosen my last baby tooth?
My last "baby" tooth is wedged between 2 adult teeth. My orthodontist is getting a form of brace prepared for me, but i do not know which kind. All i know so far is that it requires manual tightening, so i suspect that i'm getting a palatal expander. However, my knowledge of palatal expanders is that they're for widening the upper jaw, where, in my case, all i need are 2 of my teeth spaced apart for the removal (natural or forced) of an aged milk tooth. Will i be getting a palatal expander to help loosen my last baby tooth, or, if not, what kind of brace will i be receiving?

I am a little surprised that you are bothered about another man's job. You are right that the expander is for the upper jaw-- a maxillary expander it is called. For the case you've described, all you'll need might be a segmental appliance or even a removable appliance or a fixed appliance for a short while at worst depending on the severity.
Relax and the dentists do their job!
Cheers!
