Question: Will I ever be able to eat hard foods again? I just got braces.?
I just got braces today and it KILLS to chew. I'm sticking to soft foods (what do you recommend?) Will the pain ever get better or will i be forced to soft foods for the rest of braces?

Answers:

Don't worry, I was convinced that I never would be able to eat hard foods! I just got my braces a month ago and for almost two whole weeks I couldn't eat normal foods. Most people say the pain only last a week, but mine was longer (and right before Christmas!!! No Christmas food :(( )

The pain does go away, trust me! For now, eat:

ice cream
soup - this was pretty much my breakfast, lunch, and dinner
yogurt
noodles
macaroni and cheese (although I couldn't even chew noodles the first few days..that's how much it hurt!! I swallowed all my noodles whole lol)
pudding
apple sauce
smoothies
Those cups of mandarin oranges worked well

After a few days I started swallowing (lol) bread. I was so hungry I just wanted something different!

Also, take advil - it really makes it feel semi better after awhile. AND I SWORE BY ORAJEL! Just put some on your gums and it completely nums you!

Good luck :)
